Practical Advice for Sikkim Gangtok & North Sikkim Tour
Permit Documentation Ready
Nathula Pass, Tsomgo Lake, and North Sikkim require special permits. Carry 6-8 passport-size photos and original Govt photo IDs.
Heavy Woolens for North Sikkim
Yumthang Valley, Zero Point, and Gurudongmar Lake reach sub-zero temperatures even in spring. Heavy down parkas and gloves are essential.
Zero Single-Use Plastic Mandate
Single-use packaged water bottles are strictly prohibited in North Sikkim (Lachen & Lachung). Carry reusable metal water flasks.
Cash Reserves for Mountain Towns
Network connectivity is limited in remote Himalayan hamlets. Carry adequate cash for food, hot water, and local taxis.
Everything You Need to Know
A 5–7 day Sikkim trip is suitable for many first-time travellers. Three days can work for a short Gangtok holiday, while 7–10 days gives you more time to combine North Sikkim with Pelling or Darjeeling.
